Lions!

We went to the zoo on Saturday for Mary Ann's birthday. Most of the time when we see the lions they are not very active. That day, the lion stared a hole through my head. I thought about Narnia. Usually when we read the books and the kids are afraid of Aslan I am thinking to myself, "What's the big deal?" The problem is I am picturing the stuffed-animal-cinema-version of Aslan.
"Is he safe?"
He isn't safe, but He is good.

Plants, Pets, and Kids

Yesterday we got some hostas from the Roebuck's and planted them on the side of the house. You would think that with two Dad's with green thumbs, at least one of us would get one, but, alas, we were denied that part of the gene pool! However, I think there is hope. It's possible that it skipped a generation and maybe Katherine or Josiah have it. Some of the rest of the kids can kill plants as well as we can.
I've always said, "Don't give us plants or pets. Kids we can keep alive (although in reality it is God's grace that keeps them alive) but plants or pets don't stand much of a chance in our house".
